Starting a New Business Project Even When You Aren’t Ready
Have you ever felt God nudging you toward something new, and your first response was, “I’m not ready”?
Maybe there’s an idea that keeps coming back to you.
A course. A program. A new direction. A project you can’t stop thinking about.
Part of you feels excited, but another part of you feels unsure, exposed, or unqualified.
If that’s where you are right now, I want you to know you’re not alone.
Why This Podcast and This Conversation Exist
When I started the Launch With Faith Podcast, it wasn’t because I felt confident or prepared. It was because I felt called. And those two things don’t always show up together.
A few months ago, I had an encounter with Jesus that changed everything for me. It was intense, undeniable, and deeply personal. After that moment, I gave my life to Him and knew I wanted to honor God with the work I do, including my business.
So I started praying. Constantly.
Asking God how my work, my experience, and my skills could reflect His kingdom.
I love building online offers. I love Kajabi. I love launch strategy.
But I kept asking, “How does this connect? How do I use what I know to serve You?”
For a while, there was no clear answer. Just prayer.
And then one message kept coming back to my heart again and again.
Speak.
Share.
Use your voice.
It wasn’t subtle. And it didn’t feel comfortable.
I didn’t feel ready. I didn’t feel qualified. I didn’t feel like I had everything figured out.
But I realized something important. God wasn’t asking me to be perfect or fully prepared. He was asking me to be willing. To create the space before I understood the full picture.
That is where this podcast began.
Why Feeling Unready Is So Common When God Is Calling You Forward
If God is nudging you toward something new, it’s very likely you don’t feel ready. That doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong. It usually means you’re standing at the beginning of something meaningful.
Over the years, both in my own life and through working with clients, I’ve noticed three reasons women often feel unprepared even when they are clearly being called forward.
1. You Think Readiness Is a Feeling
Many women believe that one day they will wake up feeling confident, organized, brave, and fully prepared, and only then will they take action.
But readiness rarely works that way.
Readiness grows after you start.
It grows after you take the first small step.
It grows when you move forward and realize you can handle more than you thought.
Think about the big moments in your life. Becoming a mom. Moving to a new place. Changing careers. Starting a business. You didn’t feel ready for any of those things. You became ready because you stepped into them.
The same is true with your calling.
Courage follows obedience.
Confidence follows action.
If you’re waiting to feel ready, you may stay stuck, not because you lack ability, but because readiness is something God builds inside you while you walk with Him.
2. You Think Clarity Comes Before Action
Another common belief is that you need full clarity before you begin. But clarity usually comes through movement, not before it.
I’ve seen this again and again with clients. They don’t get clarity by overthinking or waiting. They get clarity by taking one step, then another.
Clarity is often revealed in small pieces. Not because God wants you confused, but because He wants you connected to Him as you walk forward.
I don’t see clarity as the starting point.
I see clarity as the reward for obedience.
3. You Think Other People Are More Qualified
Comparison is one of the fastest ways to disconnect from your own calling.
It’s easy to look at others and assume they are more confident, more gifted, or further ahead. I saw something recently that really stayed with me. It said, “Comparison is dangerous because you could end up comparing where God has you to where the devil has someone else.”
That sentence made me pause and reflect on all the things I once admired from a distance. The wins. The lifestyles. The success that looked beautiful online.
And when I brought it to God, I realized something. Some of the things I thought I wanted weren’t things He wanted for me at all.
They looked impressive, but they weren’t aligned with who God is shaping me to be.
God didn’t call you to someone else’s assignment. He called you to yours. And comparing your chapter one to someone else’s chapter twenty will only distract you from what He’s growing in you right now.
A Simple Way to Move Forward Without Pressure
If you’re feeling unready, overwhelmed, or unsure, here’s something practical you can do today.
Ask yourself this one question:
“What is the next tiny step I can take toward what God is asking me to do?”
Not the whole plan.
Not the final outcome.
Just one small step.
That step should feel simple enough that you can’t talk yourself out of it.
It might be writing one sentence about your idea.
It might be writing down the name of one person you want to help.
It might be noting the first question people always ask you.
Small steps remove pressure.
Small steps build confidence.
Small steps create momentum.
This is how every online offer, business, and calling is built. Through small, consistent yeses.
A Gentle Reflection to Sit With
Take a quiet moment and reflect on these questions:
What is God nudging me to build
What am I afraid of right now
What is one small step I can take this week
How would it feel to finally begin
There is no rush. No pressure. Just honesty.
If God placed something on your heart, He will guide you through it one step at a time.
